Message from the Chairman

Bagalkot-tucked away in the arid folds of Northern Karnataka, vast stretches of endless vistas, proud and silent under the scorching sun, is the inheritor of a rich heritage that lies in mute glory in the architectural marvels of a bygone era. During the dark hours of Pre-Independence India, like other cities Bagalkot also fell into the traps of poverty, illiteracy and general backwardness. But the city was fortunate in the sense that a great visionary, far ahead of his times in 1904, Shri Gurubasava Mahaswamiji of Bilur propelled a sleepy little town of yester years into the educational, industrial and commercial hub of today.

Shri Basaveshwar Veerashaiva Vidyavardhaka Sangha, a premier institute which has completed more than hundred years of its service, was founded by His Holiness Gurubasava Mahaswamiji of Biluru in 1906 for the noble cause of disseminating knowledge in this educationally backward area of Karnataka. It started its educational venture with a Sanskrit Pathashala and grown over years into citadel of education with a network of more than hundred institutions ranging from pre-primary to post graduate studies in various disciplines like Science, Arts, Commerce, Education, Law, Technology, Medicine, Pharmacy, Physical Education, etc… and even research programmes in many areas.

The B.V.V. Sangha has also extended its service to different areas like rural development, entrepreneurship promotion, community development, self-employment, health service, technological and marketing awareness and distance education to the needy people of this region.
